Adding posts has been customized on this site to separate post data into discreet units. Below are instructions for adding post content. If you have any questions, please contact info@christophergreen.com
Overview
Detailed instructions can be found below.
The first step for adding each post will be to choose the correct layout. There are 8 different layouts available. After selecting the layout, the post edit page will display all the content type boxes that are needed for the layout.
Converting old posts
To convert posts you will cut and paste elements from the old default WordPress content edit field into separate fields.
When you are done converting the old post, the default WordPress content edit area will be empty of all content and code.
An important part of this project is to eliminate all the garbage code and links that have built up over the years. Please follow the instructions below for details.
CU Shortcodes
Entering the codes listed below in a content post will automagically add the correct information from the user’s profile to the post as they read it.
[credit_union] – The name of the credit union.
[cu_email] – the information email of the credit union
[cu_phone] – the information phone number of the credit union
[cu_url] – The website url of the credit union
The shortcodes need to be entered exactly or they won’t work:
no spaces
no capitalization
use underscore to separate words
use brackets surrounding tag
Correct Example:
[credit_union]
Incorrect Examples:
[ credit_union ] (spaces)
(missing underscore)
credit_union (missing brackets)
[Credit_Union] (capitalized)
[creditunion] (missing underscore)
(credit_union) (used parentheses instead of brackets)
Post Templates
Each post template will include different content items.
Common post template fields
Every template contains these fields:
- Main Image – Image used as index image and main image in most articles
- Post Excerpt – Short teaser text used on index pages
- Facebook – Suggested social text for Facebook & Instagram
- Twitter- Suggested social text for Twitter
Below are examples of the post templates available. Note that the visual styling of the templates will change over time.
Template Instructions
Includes two or more reviews of apps, web sites or other items. Example Article
- Select the template
- Required Items
- Main Image – Select from Library – this should be the full size image available in the library
- Excerpt – Copy a short one or two sentences from the first paragraph of the article that work as a summary.
- Content
- Introduction Text – Cut and paste the introduction text, if any.
- Review App Name – Enter the title of the item being reviewed
- Review Text – Cut and paste the article review text
- App Image – Select the image from the library
- Click “Add a Review” to add another review as needed and repeat steps 5-7
- Additional Information

- URL – Cut the link text and paste (remove any additional google.com part at the front of the link)
- Link Text – type just the url of the web site link
- Click “Add a Link” as needed
- Facebook – Cut and paste the Facebook text.

- Click on the “Text” tab in the old article edit box. Select any text you can see and press delete.
